The Ultimate Guide to Setup Amazon Echo Tap & Download App Alexa

If you’ve just got your new Echo Tap, you’re probably wondering how to use it or set it up. No problem, we can walk you through the process with simple tips that help you with your Amazon Echo Tap Setup.



Here’s a list of what you’ll need:

1.      Internet Router & Wi-Fi Capability
2.      Internet Service
3.      An Echo Show Unit
      4.    A PC/Laptop/Smartphone/Tablet/MAC Desktop
      5.    An Amazon Account (Prime is preferred)

First, you will need to download the Alexa app and sign in. The Alexa app can be downloaded on your smart device. It is available on google play, apple store and on the Amazon app store. Once you are in the store, search for “Alexa app” and then click on it to select it. It should begin downloading. You can also download the app directly from alexa.amazon.com from Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Internet Explorer 10 & higher, or even Microsoft Edge.

Once you have downloaded the app, sign in. Now, you will be able to Setup your device, set new alarms, manage your music and shopping lists, and much more! Note that the app is only available on phones or tablets that have iOs 8.0 & higher, Android 4.4 & higher, and on Fire OS 3.0 & higher.

Advanced Setup:

  1. Turn on the Amazon tap and plug it into charging cradle, and only then plug it into a power outlet. Make sure you are only using the power adapter that is provided already.
  2. The front light should turn blue, and finally orange. Alexa will now greet you and enter into setup mode.
  3. Now you need to connect your Amazon Tap to a Wi-Fi network.
  4. You can follow the instructions provided in the app to connect the Amazon Tap to a Wi-Fi network. In case the process does not start by itself, you can press and hold the Wi-Fi or Bluetooth button on the Amazon tap for five seconds.
  5. Next, open the app and go to settings. Select ‘Set up a new device.’
  6. If the Amazon Tap does not connect to the wifi network, you should press and hold the power button down for at least five seconds until you hear a distinct tone. This turns off the device. Press and hold the power button to turn on the device again. You can new connection to the Wifi.  If the problem continues, you can reset the Amazon Tap to its factory settings and then start the setup process again.
  7. Once the setup is complete, you can begin speaking to Alexa. Press the microphone/talk button and speak in natural/short phrases. You can also activate the hands-free mode and use the wake word “Alexa” to activate the device.
  8. Always put the device into sleep mode once you’re done for the day, as this conserves battery life.
